The Assignment: Whitechapel, 1888
Welcome to T.I.M.E. (Travelers Investigating Murder Events). We don’t send you to the triumphs of history; we drop you into its open wounds.
Your destination is the East End of London, Autumn of 1888. In these alleyways, the gaslights struggle to pierce the dark, casting long, shivering shadows that seem to move even when you don’t.
You are tasked with unmasking the “Leather Apron”, the shadow known to history as Jack the Ripper. You are there to solve the ultimate cold case, but remember: in 1888, these cases are still screamingly hot. You were told not to interfere, but in the heat of a murder, “observation” feels like complicity. Be vigilant, every drop of blood that hits your modern boots changes the future. To solve the case, you may have to stand in the shadows and watch him work.
You are trained investigators, but here, you are foreigners in time. Every street urchin’s stare is a threat; every silhouette in a doorway could be the man with the black bag. If you scream, the locals will shutter their windows. In Whitechapel, silence is survival, and a scream is just another part of the night.
Your equipment is tethered to the present by a delicate temporal thread. In the damp, soot-heavy air of 1888, that thread is fraying. If it fails, you will not return home. Trapped forever in the moment of your own death, reliving the Autumn of Terror for eternity.
